I will vote for whomever the nominee is, but I would very much like to know what the plan then is. Kamala is the clear choice from the incumbency perspective but her polls are the worst of anyone, so how is it going to look if we bypass her in favor of someone white and/or male? Looking at you, Newsom. Is he going to draw the needed support of black Americans or are they going to feel disenfranchised?

Whatever happens needs to be clean, orderly, and fully supported by Dems. Whoever it is, we’d better be singing their fucking praises in unison (and you know there will be agitators crying about how the nominee is actually the only person on the planet worse than Biden) from now until Election Day because this would be a huge fucking hail mary.

I don’t like it, but if this is the play let’s get it done and get with the program. If not, get this shit out of the news cycle.

“To argue that Biden staying in is good for Dems is to argue that you have a better grasp of the electoral situation than Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries,” wrote progressive organizer Aaron Regunberg, a vocal proponent of replacing Biden at the top of the ticket.

The reported conversations between Biden and leading Democrats underscore the extent to which previously marginal calls for the incumbent to step aside have quickly spread to every level of the party, from grassroots activists to leadership to delegates to the party’s convention.

They were the ones who thought biden was a good idea in the first place so…

Fucking lots of people have been shouting about this exact situation since he was elected the first time, now they’re only finally reading the writing on the wall. I don’t trust them with shit.

The electoral process does not need more mystification and expert gurus. Saying that they know better is dismissive and patronizing.

        Of what?

People’s personal opinions that go against all the data and metrics available?

And they’re agreeing with 2/3s of Dem voters?

They sound like komissars issueing orders…

Why would this not resonate with the peasants?

At this point we don’t even pretend people chose candidate for the party, you are assigned a candidate based on your party affiliation.

Exactly, I said Biden was too old immediately when he announced he would run again. That was true then, it was true during the primaries and it’s true now IMO.
But he did win the primaries, and nothing that wasn’t 100% foreseeable has changed since then regarding Biden’s age. Forcing a replacement now is undemocratic.
Democrats are idiots for putting themselves in this situation.
I have my fingers crossed for USA, but my hopes are not high right now.

We didn’t have a real primary - I can’t believe I still see people supporting the idea that we did.

When there’s a sitting president it’s tradition for nobody serious to run against them for bullshit unity reasons - Biden could have encouraged competition but he chose to lock it down and avoid any real contest.

True, but that’s the process that’s SUPPOSED to democratically elect a candidate. Now it’s too late for that.

Yeah, regardless, we must unify behind the nominee but he has the best chance of beating Trump and when he does THEN could step down.

My choice was Biden in the Primary. He’s my choice now.

If he decides to step down, I’ll respect that and hold my nose for whomever is chosen in his place.
