Mums biopsy results came back negative. Given what we knew going in, I was expecting that to be the case, but good to have it confirmed.

I just got offered a new job after rage quitting a really bad one. I’ll be working with at-risk kids in a group home, basically a low security facility for kids who have either had run-ins with the law and need a second chance or who just don’t have anywhere else to go. I’m excited, for once I feel like I’m going to be doing work that’s actually important and not just making some wealthy idiot wealthier.

I got a job after an 11 month job search. I only had 2 interviews in that whole time.

Wow, 2 interviews in 11 months is rough. Last year it took me 5 months, I’d say around 20-30 interviews, and 6 years of experience as a dev. Congrats on the job!

Met a cute guy at a bar last night and we talked for a bit. It was really refreshing and took my mind off all the shit that’s been going on.

After coming back from a year of parental leave I didn’t lose my job.

My previous project came to an end just before I went on parental leave and the company couldn’t secure new projects locally.

But because I was involved ipartially in a different department before, that department secured a internal budget for me as a Subject Matter Expert.

Now I’m advising on that topic and was also brought in to a big internal project, so my job is secured for some time now.

For me it’s extra difficult because I moved to a different country and have a really hard time learning the language, which is a must to get a different job here.

my kid slept the whole night last night. first time. I didn’t even know what to do when I woke up and no one was crying.

I was lucky with both of my kids. They both started sleeping through the night relatively quick.

Good for you! Now, on to the next parenting challenge, but at least you’ll be getting better sleep.

I took all my meds on time, and so did my dog.

Oh! I also baked a pizza and it was really tasty. Pup didn’t get pizza, but did get oven-dried fish skins and he’s really happy about that.

I’ve been focusing hard on my job, and received feedback from a C Suite Exec this week that he is impressed with my professionalism and interpersonal abilities, especially when meeting with other execs or company lawyers. He even has started coming directly to me because, quote, “Shit gets done when you’re involved.” This is huge to me because I’m impossibly awkward in social circles and mostly a shut-in neckbeard, but somehow it works for me at my job.

I also received recognition in the form of a beautiful glass plaque from the CEO this year, and it feels amazing.

I crawled my way up from homelessness to stability and now I’m rocking it at my job. Feels good man.

I know it’s a bit taboo and perhaps unwise to put so much emphasis on your job, but it’s what brings me happiness because I’ve struggled and fought to get to where I am now. My success has afforded me a comfortable upper-middle-class life and I’m still kind of shocked that it all came to fruition. Went from sleeping under the underpass to a penthouse condo in less than two decades.

There is no need to consider any of this taboo. We spend a very large chunk of our lives simply working to earn money to live. If what you’re doing for work is something that makes you happy and proud to be spending time on, then that is worth some monetary value. At least, that’s how I feel.

Changed my name from what some family’s abusive mother gave me, got a job at Amazon, on my way to move out and never see that family again. ✂️👔
