I once moved into a house that had been lived in by a very elderly person. In the kitchen there was a pincushion hanging on the wall that was covered in death notices clipped from the newspaper. Kind of like doom scrolling, just super personal. Watching everyone you knew die, until it was your turn.

I’ve made myself sad all over again. :(

Thank you for reminding me that with each passing day, my body withers, my brain dulls, and my heart grows colder. If we’re lucky we will live long enough to watch everyone we grew up with die.

We will wake up before the sun every morning because we don’t know if it may be our last sunrise. We will see things and hear things that remind us of when we were young, able bodied, and optimistic about the future.

We will remember the day we lost that spark. We will remember…ah shit…I forgot what I was supposed to remember. Someone answer that damn phone and get those darn kids off my lawn! AGNES, WHERE’S MY PRUNE JUICE, PAPA IS BACKED UP LIKE A TRAIN TRYING TO GET IN A TUNNEL THAT’S TOO SMALL!!
