    Nobuhiko Obayashi has made many wonderful(ly weird) movies, but this is definitely his magnum opus. Hausu is a pure visual effects delight. A few more stills…

    I love this movie, though honestly the first half is a long, boring set of sunshiney schoolgirl fluff. I guess it contrasts with all the weirdness that happens when they finally arrive at the house, but it does take quite a while to get to the good part.

    If you like this, try the Jodorowski film Holy Mountain for even more of a trip.

      Holy Mountain is brilliant! I saw it in the theatre last year for its 50th anniversary rerelease. 😵‍💫🍿

    This really is an amazing movie I genuinely love this movie it’s all over the place and I just love it for that.

    was dropping acid once & figured i’d been putting off watching this one for all too long. one of the best decisions i’ve ever made & it’s not even particularly close.

    It’s a batshit movie. The first time I watched it the subtitles desynced and slowly got more and more out out of sync as the film went on. We only realised about half way through - somehow it didn’t make the film less understandable.
