The last, uhh, 24 years keep reminding me of this line by Yeats:
"The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."

The death toll up to this point is about 45k. Israel has not settled any land in Gaza or started expelling Palestinians into neighboring countries. There is a lot of room for it to get worse.
Except the “Small government” is even bigger. The only difference is that all the money gets handed to oligarchs. The Republicans have never reduced spending while in power.
This kind of shit is why the right keeps winning. Even the people that oppose them buy into their framing and repeat their lies and propaganda.
If you don’t think every major US site has been freely giving your data to the government for 20+ years, you’re painfully naive. US law has never required a warrant for this type of thing due to the Third Party Doctrine.
I just want to say one last “Fuck you Kyrsten Sinema, you traitorous piece of shit.”
It was over 14 years, which still comes out to half a liter per day.
Nobody under the age of 60 watches tv news or reads newspapers, never mind that most of those are owned by right-wing billionaires and are managed opposition at best. They also have a paywall around them that keep out most people.
Compare that to the right-wing propaganda machine that infects absolutely every type of media. There are dozens of bullshit “news” sites with no paywall that get top billing in news aggregators, they’ve gamed the YouTube, Facebook, etc algorithms to promote their propaganda, right wing podcasts like Joe Rogan get promoted front and center on Spotify and so on
I’m sure his conclusion at the end was “We need to build nukes immediately”.
The only differences there are between Bush and Trump are that Bush succeeded in stealing an election and was smart enough to try to hide his evil shit and soften it with Orwellian language instead of crowing about it from the rooftops.
The danger is more that the systems that resisted Bush’s fascism have been weakened, namely the Supreme Court.
Ah yes, let’s listen to the guy who supports Ukrainian and Tibetan genocide.
The Tea Party was an astro turf campaign created by the propaganda machine I spoke off. It was funded and promoted by the Koch billionaires.
The main problem is that Democrats do not have a propaganda machine like the Republicans do. It does not matter what the message is if it constantly gets drowned out by the unceasing flood of propaganda coming from the right.
When Trump won in 2016, I binge watched the entirety of Star Trek TNG and DS9. It was therapeutic to escape for a while to a world of logical people who try their best to rise above their base impulses.
Because it’s Microsoft and they have to compulsively rename things every few years.
Just imagine if he had stuck to his promise of being a one term president and didn’t try to run for reelection.
Idk, as a white guy, that’s more cringe than offensive. Maybe that’s because I live in the South and can pass for a redneck, but I hear some vile shit from those other white guys fairly often.
You mind linking me to that ad?
Obama was a unique situation in that he was both an incredibly charismatic JFK-style figure and ran after the Republicans had managed to both start a very unpopular war and destroy the world economy.
Or there’s the fact that union membership peaked in the 50s.
