  • Since you brought it up, I’m unconvinced the introducing crack to black neighborhoods thing is entirely related. Pretty sure the CIA already had their hands full with a couple war(s) to take a huge interest in MLK when he was rallying against racism, it was more until he started speaking out for unions and against unchecked capitalism. During the social justice years they only smeared him with the out-of-context details of his extramarital affair to media outlets (TMZ level bullshit) in order to try to discredit him. Don’t get me wrong, he was a nuisance to them for exposing injustice but as soon as you get in the way of the dynastic wealth of very powerful families though, it’s a whole new ballgame. That’s when the assassination talks probably kicked into high gear.

  • I strongly agree that it seems like in his comments after the interview last year (the fing idiots comment) that he was planning to leave soon the whole time and volunteered to be the fall guy in exchange for a golden parachute. It’s a win for all parties involved, because unity gets their PR scapegoat and he was likely going to get a nice financial package on the way out the door anyway.

I don’t care much what the new direction is anyway. I’m using unreal for my games but I admit even with the new pricing structure, I’d probably pay a lot less under Unity’s install fee thing, which caps out at 4% rev share, assuming one of my games ever even got enough sales to hit a million dollar threshold as a solo developer. The issue for me was the magical telemetry spyware that’s apparently going to be in every new build now. Its to the point I’m reconsidering if I’ll buy unity games ever again, or even install any of the ones I have on steam if they decide to update the build.

(That last part hurts my soul deep because Cities Skylines 2 is literally about to release. 🥲)

of course movies are all digital now but yep I still have a CD wallet of classic games like roller coaster tycoon, la noire, etc that I got on CD and refuse to pay for again on steam. I built my PC with a CD bay but these days a USB optical drive should be fairly cheap anyway.

music depends - I have a few early unsigned demos from a few of my favorite obscure punk bands that ended up being better than half their late catalog despite never being published that I refuse to give up
