EtnaAtsume@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•My grandma passed away and my aunt sent me a selfie of her, my uncle (siblings, not a couple), and my deceased grandma in the hospital bed, is it normal that I'm put off by this?15·12 days agoMy paternal grandma died last year. And my dad remarried in 2017.
Not really enough time for his new wife to establish much rapport.
Dad had always been a Mama’s boy and lived most all of his life clinging to his mom’s skirts anyway.
Yet when grandma died it was the new wife who casually sent me a picture taken with her phone of my grandma’s corpse in the hospital bed.
Horrifying, and very inappropriate. All of this is to say that I can relate to your situation and no, you aren’t overreacting.
It’s AI. The trend du jour is uploading a picture to ChatGPT and asking it to recreate it in Studio Ghibli style.

I don’t know what it’s worth to you but I at least read the whole thing. You seem like an alright person who’s just been punted around by the failures of the US to care for its own: hiding carcinogen information, making unhealthy food the economical/convenient choice, not to mention I’m sure that navigating the health care system was a nightmare.

Given the way that science headlines are composed, I’m sure this is, if not an outright lie, then a gross exaggeration, and if neither of those, a very clever interpretation of something that is otherwise probably much more mundane than it appears.
