It’s like the nerds that came up with those nuclear warnings have never consumed a piece of fantasy or sci-fi media. “Oh, this ancient civilisation had immense power and locked it away in a concrete vault underground surrounded by harrowing warnings? Fuck yes I’m digging that shit up or settling my town on the ancient site of power. Blessings of the glowing soil! My son has been born with 6 fingers on each hand! Surely a wonderful portent!”
How do you have Toxic Masculinity? That’s not how the concept works…
We only suffer from a similar issue because people’s education on voting comes from American media.
The system we have allows for much more nuance than the US, but we are told by tv that a vote for anyone but the big two, even for the greens, is “throwing away your vote”. But as this handy comic explains, that’s not true. https://www.chickennation.com/voting/
No silly, we don’t excuse genocide. We just proudly proclaim that there is no genocide in an attempt to hold onto the fundamentalist Christian voters that we don’t realise were never going to vote for us anyway.
When these fools talk about ‘gender identity’, they don’t mean cis, hetero-normative gender identity. They assume that goes without saying because everyone thinks like them.
Would love to see them flip their lids when teachers start handing out barbies and tutus to pre-school boys.
And nothing of value was lost
“Remembering Prey”? The game is 7 years old, and has a release on current gen consoles. The nostalgia cycle is starting to spiral in on itself. Get ready for “Remember Baldurs Gate 3” next month.
If we want to talk about a game that is about ready for a nostalgic revival, featured unique gameplay for the time, told a story with interesting lore, and had the potential for interesting sequels, let’s remember Prey (2006). Also, it had a bus full of evil ghost kids on a spaceship. Can’t beat that.
Are you implying that Spotify used user data to generate these advertisements, rather than just paying the marketing firm that definitely came up with this idea?
Also, way to add an extra layer to the promotion.
The difference is that revolutions HAVE happened throughout history, and have been successful.
Comparing a political act that has historical precedent to a bible story with no basis in fact is probably the most flaccid “both sides” centrist argument I’ve ever heard.
Gotta get that little snooty dog in there that Gen-Z and Millennials are buying high quality, expensive groceries, to make sure we know it’s our own damn fault because we won’t bend over and suffer by eating store-brand cornflakes with water for dinner.
Keeping in mind those store-brand cornflakes now cost the same as a box of Kellogg did 5 years ago.
It’s really getting to me how many people are memeing Paul turning into a worm.
It feels like it’s a fact that was misinterpreted from one of those “7 CRAZY Things that Happen in the DUNE Novels - You’ll never believe number 6!” Videos. But because they haven’t read the books, they assume it must be Paul that worms out because he’s the Main Character, right?
The issue is, if you want a job in this sort of field, 90% of the time it is contract, with no option or ability to switch over to permanency. I have worked for several years in my current IT job, but I am technically a contractor, and every 6 months, I need to make peace with the fact that I might not have a job for no reason. I definitely do not rock the boat, because even though they’re “not allowed” to fire me if I join a union, they only have to wait till the end of the contract to find another worker bee.
Of course, the fandom for the quintessential X-Man, Morph, who was so well loved that he starred alongside Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry in the 2000s X-Men film.
Morph, who was such an established Marvel character that they had to change his name for the animated show because there was a DC character who had a better claim to it.
Morph, whose iconic design was “a dude”. I remember when every kid wanted the “a dude” action figure.
That Morph?
I would bet good money that not a single soul who is being vocally upset online about this was a part of the “Morph Fandom”. It’s people who assume that a show featuring a non-cis or non-straight character is a personal attack.
Thought this was referring to the Marvel character, Medusa, one of the Inhumans.
Could not figure out how prehensile hair and rock skin made a good match.
According to the article, the only things being removed are digital copies that were given free with a DVD or Blu-Ray purchase.
Not amazing (I would argue that Funimation should make all eligible digital copies downloadable before the service ends), but assuming customers have their original physical media, the loss is minor.
I wonder if the people who make comments like these would feel quite so smug if their likeness was put online for anyone to use to promote hateful or disrespectful content.
That IS the point, and rarely do equality or equity initiatives “pull down” anyone.
But the Haves feel like they’ve earned their position, and that means that if you help a Have Not in any way, you are taking away from their achievement (which in this case is “not being born poor/black/female”)
Thefact thatyour commentcan stillbe understood kindof disprovesyour point.
Beingpedantic aboutspaces andhyphens in anonline comment-section doesn’t makeyou a better-person.
What I’m reading is that Black and Asian women can only be attractive when they conform to western beauty standards: petite features, small frames, perfect proportions.
Considering that some games these days use the likenesses of actual people to create their characters, it disgusts me that some random guy out there gets to be the deciding voice on beauty.
He seems to be pretty hung up on that one guys girlfriend though…
