Because defeating Hamas is not an achievable goal. At best, they just create another group that wants to resist them as long as Israeli oppression of Palestinians continues. Hamas, whether or not you agree with them or the actions they’ve taken, believe themselves to be resisting Israel oppression. Why would you ignore this? Because you don’t think Israel is oppressing Palestinians? No, you just think the oppression is justified as long as Hamas exists. But if its not Hamas, there will be another group. Hamas is not present in the West Bank, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping Israel.

Don’t forget that President Herzog has said “It is an entire nation out there that is responsible. It’s not true this rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved.” So what does that mean for “defeating Hamas”? How many Gazans does Israel get to kill in pursuit of this goal? Is there a limit for you?

If Biden loses, it will be because not enough people were convinced to vote for him. So if dems want to prevent a Trump presidency, the smart move probably would be (or would have been, maybe, since y’all think it’s too late) for Biden to step down and endorse a Dem who has not openly supported Israel’s current campaign. That is, if they think that those voters are necessary to win. If they think those voters can be written off and they’ll still win, let 'em try. No politician is owed a vote simply because they are the incumbent, though. Nor are they owed the votes of people who are displeased with their work. They hoping that everyone will just fall in line on election day. What if that doesn’t happen? Do you think the future of our country is something that octogenarians should be gambling with?

I mean, I do intend to withhold my vote from democrats who do not share my values, as should anyone who does not feel that democrats, or a specific democrat, represents their interests in government.

But what I was getting at is that for the last several elections democrats have asked voters to come out to stop the other guys from winning. And if all you care is make sure that things don’t get worse, then by all means vote for democrats. But they haven’t made things better. And that’s not even what their offering you. They are offering you exactly what you have right now. And I get it, no one wants the other guy to win, but that doesn’t motivate people as much as Dems want it to. If they were instead laying out progressive policy platforms, maybe people would be excited to vote for them. Then people like me, who are not represented by democrats but its as close as it gets I guess, might be able to stomach voting for them or at least not negatively impact their chances of winning.
