Nothing to contribute honestly, I just want to say that this is the funniest post i’ve seen on lemmy

I literally cannot use Linux at the moment due to incompatible software, as much as I love Linux and use it on every other computer I own.

These posts about Windows and other mainstream platforms are helpful or interesting for some of us, I wish people on Lemmy would stop shooting them down just because they don’t like Windows/Micro$oft.

This has been a long time in the making…hopefully Firefox will see a market share increase. Google is doing this right as they get slapped by an antitrust ruling ironically lol. If you haven’t already just go ahead and switch, if you like Lemmy you’ll probably like Firefox as well.

Side note: I try not to be negative here, but this would be a great time for Mozilla to get their act together as an organization. Love Firefox and the idea, but Mozilla has been pissing off the FOSS space for a while now with their decisions. If they’ve improved in recent years, disregard this.

Eh this is the same guy who has promised real self-driving cars within 2 years…every 2 years. I’ll believe it when I see it.

This lemmy community is a thing? Saw it on the front page, got me excited.

As for the actual article, makes you wonder what the next 10-20 years will look like. We very well might be moving towards finally having the renewable-powered world we need.

Really depends on the desktop but in terms of default desktops that are shipped with distros I’m picking Fedora’s GNOME (pretty much stock) and MX Linux’s XFCE.

This place is a lot older than I expected.

Internet generation, progenitors of current online brainrot. Came too early to experience the 90s in all its glory, and too late for running console-quality games on a 6mm thick mobile device.

At least we have the 2010s to claim for ourselves. Those were pretty cool.

I’m a little lost here…when I started using Fedora I was pretty much a complete beginner (used Ubuntu a little bit before but not extensively, only GUI applications) and stuff like this wasn’t an issue. Just copy and paste from some online guide. Didn’t have to use the terminal frequently either.

Fedora is pretty easy.

Honestly surprised at the amount of arguing over iPhones and Androids here, its 2024. It’s not that deep.

Seriously, of all things tech news related nowadays, green and blue bubbles are a non-issue. If someone has an issue with it, it’s probably worth not making it your issue as well and just walking/swiping away to find someone else to talk to.

I consistently talk to iPhone users using SMS. Besides from the occasional picture compressed into oblivion, nobody cares enough to even make jokes about the phones we are using. At the end of the day, it’s just a phone.

I use Debian on nearly everything that isn’t a “testing machine”…it’s just what I’m familiar with. Used to be like this with Fedora. If you are looking to just use it as a regular end user and don’t really need anything different or particularly want some new scenery, you might as well just install Debian again.
