Well based on last Tuesday, this is a shockingly large number of people.

There are deep issues that we need to solve.

None of which will be solved by either party in its current form. Grinding out Democratic Party primary victories is the only shot progressives have in our current system. You can’t change the system without supplanting one of the parties. There is no “going around the DNC” option. We have to take that shit by force.

“Of course I’m not going to do any actual work to try and fix the problem, I just want to tell everyone they can’t fix the problem and have no agency! See how left I am?!”

The DNC is a sunk cost. Time to move on.

Showing up to primaries and reforming the party seems infinitely easier in a FPTP system. The parties are pretty much part of the electoral infrastructure at this point, you simply can’t “go around” them. Their form can absolutely change, as can leadership, but it will take literal generations to supplant them.

On the other hand, if the people that usually stay home or preach that “the process is useless” showed up to primaries and threw more of the old guard on their asses we could actually have a shot at getting a party to represent working class people. It’s the exact same work, there’s just less of it because you already have a base of voters.

People can complain about the DNC all they want, but until they show up they’re getting exactly what they’ve asked for. We have the power to clean house.

One giant difference between the right and left here is that the right isn’t a small group of racists/sexists. They ALL are. In no way is someone pushing them towards that ideology, they’ve already chosen it and are just making excuses.
