I don’t disagree, but there has been some decent stuff. In particular, I just started Doom Patrol for the first time and I’m really enjoying it

Couple a YeeHawdists up in here
especially when they turn on in the middle of the night.
That’s a rookie move. Leave the fan on at full blast all night, and then you won’t hear the difference when the AC kicks in, plus it’s a free white-noise machine
It gets used as the in-house chat client at my place of employment. I work in a rural area in an old building so cell service is spotty at best, so it’s handy to be able to shoot a chat to anyone instead of an email or walking over to their office.
Got a literal lol from me at breakfast.
And hey, you’re one of a pretty small number of people in the world that can use “gas chromatographic” properly, so you got that going for you, which is nice.
looks like an autocorrect error to me; based on context, I bet they meant “reported.”
Good clarification either way, though, especially since it dramatically changes the meaning of the sentence
In all honesty, I think it’s likely a simple mistake.
The object that artists use to hold their paints is actually a third homophone, spelled palette.
It could be that the word choice was intentional and is referencing the character’s bed, but I find it more likely that it was simply lost in translation from the original Japanese
That’s just the synesthesia talking.
… But you’re not wrong
It’s always worthwhile to be self-aware and to be conscious of the parts of your personality that others might be annoyed by or take offense to. I’m not going to change that part of my personality just to please others, but I don’t think it’s annoying to acknowledge that others might not appreciate that part of who I am.
But hey, you do you. If being your authentic self means not caring about how your words affect the feelings of others, then that’s just who you are, I guess.
blown out
palletpalate
FTFY. A pallet is a small bed or an object used for carrying things, a palate is part of the mouth or one’s ability to taste things. Pretty pedantic, I know, but I have this compulsion to correct misused homophones, so… Sorry? You’re welcome? Either way, have a great day!
Voyager is the closest Lemmy app to RIF, in my opinion. Plus it’s open source and has zero ads.
Profession can absolutely affect volume. Even without any hearing damage, any job that regularly requires that you project can become a habit.
I’m a chemistry professor at a community college, fairly well educated, and I flatter myself to say reasonably intelligent, but I still slip into what my wife calls my “teaching voice” in some social settings or even occasionally at home.
This isn’t exactly the same because the Arlington incident actually happened and has some bearing on an ongoing political campaign as opposed to being pure speculation and misinformation.
Don’t threaten me with a good time…
Plus, admitting that God cannot create light without dark or good without evil means admitting God is not omnipotent.
It’s like an old-fashioned (usually glazed) more in a bar shape than a traditional donut shape. I would assume that they have buttermilk in the recipe, but I don’t don’t really know the specifics other than than they have a bit more of a “sour cream” tang than a regular old-fashioned.
To my eternal dismay, all the donut shops in my town stopped making buttermilk bars, so I have to go in with a “stretch” donut and have a safety donut (old-fashioned glazed) as my most likely order.
To be completely honest, I missed where you said “I know what you mean,” so we’re probably on the same wavelength.
And I definitely could have elaborated on what I meant to make it more clear why I think many DMT advocates come on too strong and make their arguments starting from very flawed (and pseudoscientific) premises, but I got lazy and assumed we were mostly operating from the same experiences with the Joe Rogan crowd.
Thanks for helping me improve my argument and communication. Cheers and enjoy your weekend
I’ve got no problem with DMT, I just can’t stand its “fans.”
I’m all for more psychedelic and empathogen research, and I agree that many of those compounds have great promise. I have just noticed that the “let’s keep an open mind about DMT” crowd and the “big pharma is controlling us with vaccines” crowd has a lot of overlap, at least in my town.
I blame Joe Rogan, mostly.
Ah, got it. I never even saw most of the DC movies or shows post Nolan-era Batman, so I was unaware of the distinction.
