Sweet, hadn’t even occurred to me to look for that so I’m glad you pointed it out!

No such thing, we all start somewhere! :)
Anyway, you could in fact do that if you were thinking of trying out other Fedora Atomic images such as Silverblue and whatnot (see also the ublue page listing tons of others, including your bazzite!). This uses different tooling, so unfortunately not in this case.
Oh I didn’t realize SteamVR didn’t support all that, great points! That’s a lot more understandable then, here’s hoping it catches on and they eventually manage to get it to support everything in that case.
Yup, I hear ya. It’s funny, the reason I was hyped before was it honestly didn’t even cross my mind they’d launch it with all the cool features disabled. Makes no sense.
The way they’re wording it gives the vibes it was purely a business decision so it doesn’t cannibalize PS5 sales or something, except that then makes it so that no one really has a reason to get it on PC either! Gotta love it.
At this point I’m hoping the community will pick it up and hack away at it to enable whatever they can, maybe I’ll consider it if something like that turns out to be feasible in the future.
Yeah, I’m all for a new PCVR headset entering the scene but the actual nice features that separate it from the rest being left out has kinda killed my hype. Still not a terrible headset, but I’m not getting hardware I can’t use properly.
As for the wallet thing , it does depend on the payment method at least in my country
Valve only makes the deck available in a handful of countries while Xbox hardware is available pretty much everywhere, so I’d say it’s natural to assume a hypothetical dexbox would too
Pretty much the tl;dr here, yeah 🤣
My understanding is folks tend to gravitate towards that because it’s indeed very close to might’ve and whatnot phonetically. My anecdotal experience as a non-native speaker is we tend to be less affected since we usually tackle speaking and listening more seriously after we’ve already familiarized ourselves enough with writing/reading, grammar and vocab.
Very good point, in hindsight I should probably have clarified I was focusing on the written form when I replied
Just as an additional tidbit, it’s the same in Portuguese as well!
Well, in that case I can only hope my next run goes better! Not taking a few decades to realize I’m a girl or just spawning with the right body would help a lot lol, wouldn’t mind permanently unlocking that for future runs.
FWIW I’ve been daily driving Bazzite on the deck for several months and it’s been smooth sailing, no complaints here. You’d think it’s stock if I just handed it to you with no context. I did it mostly because I could tbh, but I love the extra functionality!
That all said, last I checked it wasn’t fully functional on the OLED model. Not sure that’s changed.
Turns out most were seemingly glad to comply when Netflix pulled that bs so I’ll be legitimately shocked if most major streaming services don’t follow suit within the next few months. I’m glad my seafaring ass hasn’t had to deal with that kind of annoyance in years lol.
I overshare my Nix setup at the slightest hint it could be relevant and I also feel like I’ve shilled Bazzite at least once basically every week or so ever since I created this account, but I guess I’ll settle for second place 😛
Joking aside, thanks for sharing, that was a great read. Good for newcomers and skepticals alike IMO, I’ll keep it handy!
Not OP but that’s good to know, thanks for the heads-up!
Also worth noting they’re one of the very few cloud providers I’m aware of with regional pricing, the annual family plan’s bang for your buck is simply unbeatable where I live. Not an apples to apples comparison but to put it into perspective, my 1TB Hetzner storage box runs me about the same as my 365 family plan, except the latter has 6 times the raw storage among all people.
I love that, great analogy! I don’t think I’d ever make that connection since I’m pretty sure they both sounded about equally alien back when I was introduced to them 😅
Ideally, you need at least some basic understanding to use the vast majority of languages. The problem isn’t even writing the code itself, you can definitely just memorize the keywords and some basic concepts and have at it. If you ask me, the real issue is the availability, amount and overall quality of documentation and learning material if you go about it that way.
I have a few coworkers who skipped the learning English part and learned most everything from other non native speakers and they tend to be crippled by often not really being able to make use of official documentation or keep up with new things, since the vast majority of content out there is in English. It also has the unfortunate side effect of pushing them to stick with whatever it is they learned way back when and not really looking for better ways of getting things done.
So basically, you can pull it off without knowing English but it’s going to be suboptimal and/or painful IMO.
That sounds amazing, wow. Can’t wait to give it a go!
