95% of my searches, DDG is fine and I’ve learnt where it might struggle and I just end the search with !g

This then searches Google, yeah I’m still using Google for 5% of my searches but it’s better than 100%.

Or use !start to search startpage.

I’ve degoogled apart from:

• Google photos - I have shared storage with my family and I really can’t be doing with sorting out the mess when I cancel my 200GB subscription. I do however back all photos up to my server.
• Pixel phone - I try not use any Google apps/search but the phones are updated regularly and are reasonably good value for money. Other brands have the Google tracking with the OEM tracking on top.

I installed Linux mint on my Framework laptop because fuck windows.

I had to move back to windows, it didn’t feel ready and couldn’t get it working easily how I like.

Heres some of the issues(any pointers would be great)

• 120hz just wouldn’t work on one monitor, it detects it but won’t apply. (Works fine in W10 and Ubuntu).
• Scrolling on the touchpad is unbelievably fast and makes it unusable.
• Fractional scaling is a joke, my laptop screen needs around 125% but everything becomes a blurred mess.
• The mouse is a bit jittery and can’t explain why (usually using a Logitech gaming mouse when docked).
• Governor cannot be different on battery and AC. Defaults to max turbo.
• Fingerprint sensor doesn’t work (works fine on Ubuntu and w10).
• Unsure how to get hardware accelerated disk encryption working?

Some stuff is better but a combination of these just brings me back to windows. It just loads and works?

Cancelled all subscriptions apart from Usenet and VPN.

Now I just pirate it all and bang it on Plex. All in one place on all devices, easy peasy

Same here. I just don’t give a fuck. I do whatever is the least friction to me, a lot of times pirating is the best option.

• Music, can’t easily play it everywhere I want with spotify or youtube music? Pirate
• Movies, scattered allover with different pricing models? Pirate
• Film comes out and want to watch with friends? Go to the movie theatre.
• TV on the BBC I can easily watch, just watch there (pay TV licence).
• TV that comes to the UK later than the US? Pirate
• Game is a good price on steam, buy.
• Game is time locked to the premium edition buyers (Starfield), Pirate.
• Obscure premium podcast, buy because it’s not elsewhere and has an RSS feed. (Plus I don’t mind supporting some creators)

Basically, I have plenty of spare cash and will pirate or buy depending on whatever works for me, not what works for them.

Yep. I’ve noticed this in maybe the last 3-4 years. I’ve actually wondered if i’ve started getting dyslexia.

I think realistically it’s more to do with the way I use the internet. I scan articles rather than read them unless it’s something i’m really interested in. Google search results, half of them tend to be bullshit so i’ve gotten good at scanning them at insane speed.
